PARTS of the M4 will be closed this evening to allow essential safety repairs to take place overnight.

The work starts at 9pm on Friday, June 16, and will be completed by 6am.

During this time, traffic will go on a small detour, and motorists are being warned that extra time will be needed to complete their journeys.

The eastbound M4 will be closed between junction 14 – the Hungerford interchange – and junction 15 for Swindon.

Traffic will be directed to leave the motorway via the junction 14 exit sliproad, before coming back on again.

The reason for this is National Highways is repairing a failed bridge joint.
