Liberation and black theology will be the focus for a religious-themed discussion group coming to Reading town centre next month.
Café Théologique is hosted by the University of Reading Chaplaincy and is a space to explore contemporary issues from a theological perspective.
On Monday, March 11, from 7.30pm, they will welcome Professor Anthony Reddie, Director of the Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford.
He is one of the recipients of the 2020 Lanfranc Award delivered by the Archbishop of Canterbury to recognise his ‘exceptional and sustained contribution to Black theology in Britain and beyond’.
The event will include Prof Reddie’s talk, entitled From Black Power to Black Lives Matter: The Ongoing Trajectory of Black Liberation Theology, and a chance to discuss issues that come from it.
The event is free to attend without booking, and the event will also be streamed on Zoom, for which pre-registration is required.
It takes place at Zero Degrees in Bridge Street, and organisers will gather there at 6pm to eat first, and invite others to join them.
