A CYCLIST on his way to work was injured in a hit and run incident in Whitley on Tuesday.
The incident happened between 9am and 10.30am on Tuesday, March 19.
Thames Valley Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, was on the Whitley Wood Road between the junction of Hartland Road and Shinfield Road.
He was involved in a collision with a van, and he went into a lamppost, injuring his right hand and right side of his chest, and falling unconscious.
The driver of the van did not stop.
When the cyclist regained consciousness, he contacted the ambulance service.
He was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where he remains at this time.
Investigating officer PC Ben Taylor of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This is a very unusual incident in which the collision is suspected to have happened at some stage between 9am and 10.30am.
“However, the victim did not call the ambulance service until noon and there were no calls to police around the time of the collision in that area, which is a well-travelled road.
“I am appealing to anybody who believes that they witnessed this incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.
