The leader of the council has extended her thoughts to the victim and students in the wake of the assault at Reading College.
The incident saw a huge police presence, along with an air ambulance and South Central Ambulance Service paramedics.
Emergency services dealt with the incident from 2pm onwards on (Thursday, November 6).
The College reopened for teaching on Friday.
Liz Terry (Labour, Coley), the leader of Reading Borough Council, said: “It goes without saying that any incident of this nature is of concern to anyone associated with Reading, and in particular parents who had young people at the college yesterday.
“My immediate thoughts at this time are with the family of the young person injured, although I understand the person has been discharged from hospital.
“It’s important we allow the police the time now to continue to investigate their various lines of enquiry and I think on behalf of everyone we would thank them for their swift response.”
Footage taken of the incident shows armed Thames Valley Police entering one of the buildings of the college.
Staff and students inside took cover underneath chairs.
Meanwhile, those outside were not allowed to enter the buildings until the situation was made safe.
