READING Borough Council has announced a series of bicycle maintenance sessions through October.
Members of the public are invited to bring their bikes to free maintenance checks and basic fixes, as well as find out more about cycling events going on in Reading.
Teams from Avanti Cycling will perform check-ups, tune-ups, minor repairs, and diagnose more complex issues.
The free sessions are part of the council’s efforts to encourage cycling and walking in the borough, aiming to reduce congestion and improve residents’ health.
Cllr John Ennis, Lead Councillor for Climate Strategy and Transport, said: “Dr Bike sessions in the town centre have been very popular throughout the year.
“These community events will give even more people the opportunity to make sure their cycles are in good condition.
“These sessions are ideal if you want to give your, or your child’s, bike a quick maintenance check, minor repair or pick up some safety tips.
“Dr Bike is part of the Council’s programme of free cycling activities to encourage active travel, reduce reliance on private cars, improve air quality and benefit people’s health and wellbeing.”
The Dr Bike sessions will take place outside Southcote Library on Tuesday, October 15; Coley Park Community Centre on Wednesday, October 16; Lyndhurst Road Community Centre on Thursday, October 17; Whitley Wood Community Centre on Friday October 18; and at Hexham Road Community Centre on Wednesday, October 23.
Sessions take place between 3.30pm and 5pm and are free to attend.
