THE COMPANY that owns a disused pub in Katesgrove has changed its mind over seeking permission to convert the building’s ground floor.
The Wellington Arms on Whitley Street was converted into a Greggs bakery, but this closed last month.
Greggs has “not been successful in the operation of their store” and Sykes Capital said it has been seeking new tenants for months.
In preparation for a new tenant, it had wanted Reading Borough Council to adjust permitted opening hours, from 6am to 8pm on Monday to Saturdays and 7am to 5pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays to 6am to 11pm all week.
However, the company withdrew the application on March 5.
It can be seen by logging on to Reading Borough Council’s planning website, searching for reference 240167.
