TWO CHURCHES will be holding special events to mark the Word Day of Prayer 2023.
Services at St Luke’s, Reading, and St Mary’s Church, Shinfield, will take place on Friday, March 3, with a particular focus on Taiwan.
The World Day of Prayer initiative sees the same women-led service held all over the world on the same day, but at different times. It serves to promote prayerful living and worship for all, helping to raise awareness of the concerns of those around the world.
This year, uplifting sermons will be prepared by the ladies of Taiwan, and the events will feature traditional refreshments and cakes, as well as music and artwork produced by the artist Hui-Wen Hsaio.
A lot of Ms Hsaio’s work features the orchid, the national flower and the pride of Taiwan.
Collections will be fathered at each service and will be used to support charities in the UK and overseas.
The service at St Luke’s starts at 10.30am, while the service at St Mary’s takes place at 2pm.
