The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6: “Do not be anxious for anything, instead of worrying pray”.
Let’s be honest in our world today most people would say they were worried about something. No matter how much money you have in the bank, no matter how healthy you are or however successful you may seem almost everyone has something that they worry about.
Each and everyone of us came into the world in the same way – naked and with nothing – the fact is that when our time comes and our life on this earth comes to an end, we may be clothed at the time of our passing but we won’t be taking anything with us, we will be ‘going out broke’.
Whether you are Bill Gates or the homeless man on the street we are all in the same boat when we die so that makes you think not about what you take with you but two other things: what do you leave behind? And Where do you go?
In answer to the first question, will your legacy be all about you and the things you had, the places you visited, the jobs you did, will it be about the kindness you showed, the way you treated others? Which has the greater impact?
The amazing holiday you went on or the time that you took to speak to someone who felt unloved and overlooked?
In answer to the second, where do you go?
At Norreys Church we believe that with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, believing that he was God’s son and was sent to this earth and died (and came back to life three days later) so that our sins could be forgiven this allows us entry to Heaven.
We may be going out broke but it is so much better to know that what you have left behind is ultimately a reflection of the place you will also be going if you too believe John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him, should not die but have everlasting life.”
