God calls his people to live in unity with one another. We are told in Galatians 3:28 that ‘we are all one in Christ Jesus’ despite our differences.
But what does this look like, or mean, to us when we are surrounded by division and conflict? How do we unite when there are great chasms between us?
The people of Ukraine have shown us a great example of how to unite in the face of conflict. Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen pictures of the destruction there, but we have also seen the unity, strength and solidarity of its people.
I have read stories of people offering their homes as places of sanctuary to those fleeing the conflict, people driving across borders to deliver medical provisions to those in need and people marrying their loved ones in the midst of this war-zone.
Also, I have read of the many Ukrainians who have a faith and how they approach this dreadful situation with zealous prayer.
Prayer seems to be such a vast spiritual movement that is uniting those in Ukraine.
What do you sense unites our community?
We saw glimpses of this at the beginning of the pandemic when our community pulled together to help those in need.
My encouragement and prayer for you this week is that you find an opportunity to reach out to those in need around you, and by doing so, continue to build on the foundations of unity in our community.
