A road in Reading that was meant to reopen recently remains closed for weeks so that essential works can be completed.
The junction of Bennet Road and the A33 has been closed for Thames Water works since October 18 last year.
Access remains for businesses, Reading Borough Council’s depot and The Church of Pentecost UK and other premises.
The reopening of the junction has been delayed twice in a row.
The barriers blocking traffic were meant to be removed on Sunday, December 14 last year.
Most recently, the junction was meant to reopen on Sunday, March 15, but remains closed.
The closure has been extended for more than five weeks.
The junction is now due to reopen on Saturday, April 25.
While a Thames Water spokesperson apologised for the delay, it will be briefly reopened for the Reading Half Marathon.
The spokesperson said: “This is a complex repair and we have been obliged to extend the project because a utility cable had to be diverted to enable work to continue.
“Health and safety is our number one priority, and due to the conditions of the ground below the surface, specialist engineering has been required to ensure the long-term safety and stability of the road before completing the repair.
“A signed diversion route remains in place, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
“However, we are also glad we have been able to work with Reading Borough Council to open Bennet Road temporarily this Sunday, March 22, for the Reading Half Marathon runners.”
