Changes are due to be made at Waitrose, the biggest supermarket in Caversham.
The store, located at St. Martin’s Precinct, is a large supermarket selling a wide range of premium products.
The supermarket has been open since 1984, and currently features a deli, meat, sushi and fish counters, a bakery and a patisserie.
Waitrose has recently submitted a licensing application to sell alcohol 24 hours a day to Reading Borough Council.
The store is currently open from 8am to 9pm on weekdays, 8am to 8pm on Saturdays, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
It is understood that the 24-hour licence would facilitate later alcohol deliveries than it does currently.
The delivery hours for shopping at Waitrose is currently 7am to 10pm, according to timings confirmed by the store 10 weeks ago.
Deliveries are conducted via a scheduled home delivery ordered online with a minimum £40 spend, or by using rapid services such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats, or Just Eat.
A statutory consultation into the application is currently live.
You can respond to it by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The consultation ends on Monday, April 13.
Other applications for 24-hour sales at Waitrose supermarkets have been submitted to the respective local authorities in Horsham and York.
The company is headquartered in Bracknell and has more than 320 stores across the UK.
Waitrose also has supermarkets in Oxford Road, Tilehurst and Woodley town centre.
