Reading Sunday League side Caversham United Football club has been nominated for the England Football Club of the Year award.
England Football hosts the Grassroots Football Awards and presented awards including: Club of the Year, League of the Year, Match Official of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Coach of the Year and more,
Caversham’s men’s first-team competes in the Reading & District Sunday League Division Two, while the ladies first-team played in the Southern Region Women’s Division One North last campaign.
Having built a strong following on social media, which has seen them connect with several professional clubs around Europe, the Goats have become well renowned for their social media presence.
Caversham were also able to celebrate Sunday League day this year as they revealed that Reading FC legend Dave Kitson had signed up to play for the Goats.
Playing in front of a bumper crowd, Kitson netted twice in his first competitive match for more than 10 years.
Having been notified of their nomination, Caversham United posted an update on X, formerly know as Twitter, which said: “We are thrilled to have been notified by @EnglandFootball that Caversham United is nominated for “Club of the Year”.
“We take great pride in our contribution to grassroots football and are very grateful for the appreciation.”
