THAMES Valley Police is still attending the scene following an incident of attempted murder in Caversham.
In the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, August 9, an incident took place in Hemdean Road, Caversham, leading to a number of road closures.
Thames Valley Police has now confirmed that at around 12.50am, they received reports of an altercation, followed by a further report that a boy in his teens had presented to a hospital with two stab wounds.
He was treated for serious injuries but is now in a stable condition and remains in hospital.
Two 16-year-old boys from Reading have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody.
Detective Inspector Laura Corscadden, based at Reading police station, said: “This was a serious incident that we are investigating thoroughly, with two suspects currently in police custody.
“I would like to reassure the community this was an isolated incident.
“There is a large scene-watch in place in Hemdean Road; therefore residents will see an increased police presence in the area while officers and staff carry out enquiries.
“My thanks go to the residents for their patience and co-operation as we will likely be there for some time.
“I understand people may have concerns but you are welcome to discuss these with any of our uniformed officers. We will also be conducting extra patrols in the area.

Reading Buses posted to social media at 5.30am to explain that bus routes 22, 23, and 24 were being diverted due to a “police incident.”
The AA reported shortly after 4.40am that Hemdean Road was closed just before 1am.
The Reading Buses post reads in full: “We cannot serve any stops in Hemdean Rd at present due to a police incident.
“Buses on routes 22, 23 & 24 are being diverted via St Anne’s Rd, The Mount and Oakley Rd.
“Sorry for any inconvenience.”
