AN AWARD-WINNING choir will help the town get into the festive mood at a carol service on Friday, December 15.
Reading Community Gospel Choir’s event at Reading Minster Church will not only feature a medley of Christmas favourites, but will also serve as a fundraiser for the town’s Refugee Support Group.
The 2019 BBC Gospel Choir of the Year winners are set to return after a well-received showcase last year, with tickets for this December’s event selling fast.
Nick Harborne, CEO of Refugee Support Group, says, “It’s truly heartwarming to have the Reading Community Gospel Choir supporting us at our annual Christmas event.
“This year has been an exceptionally trying time for refugees and asylum seekers who have faced unimaginable horrors and challenges that most of us can never truly comprehend.
“Never in the history of the Refugee Support Group has there been such a critical demand for our services. By attending our event, you can help us raise the funds towards supporting those who desperately need our assistance.”
Adult tickets are £10, concessions £5 and under 11s and refugees going for free. Prior booking is essential.
The event takes place from 7pm-9pm.
