STAFF and residents from a Wokingham care home enjoyed a memorable day out at Reading Football Club.
Barchester’s West Oak Gentleman’s Club members were taken by care home staff to the stadium as part of Dementia Action Week.
There, they were warmly greeted by Reading FC staff for a day filled with connection, nostalgia and unforgettable memories.
“From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and served tea, coffee and cakes by the wonderful staff and enthusiastic young academy players,” said activity co-ordinator Dawn Davies.
“The highlight of the visit was a heart-warming and insightful talk led by three former Reading FC Legends, delivered from the stands overlooking the pitch – a view that brought back many fond and happy memories for our members.
“And we were given a chance to walk around the pitch, soaking up the atmosphere and snapping a few photos.
“It was especially touching to see both Johns (West Oak residents) beaming with joy.
“It was a day we will truly remember. “
General Manager, Simona Cioinac said: “We were absolutely thrilled to be invited, and loved being able to take our residents to Reading FC.
“It makes us so happy to be able to access venues like this.
“It was a fantastic day and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”
