FORGET snakes and ladders and put that Monopoly box back on top of the cupboard.

A board game convention is heading to Tilehurst this autumn and is set to take Berkshire’s gamers to a whole new level.

The man behind the unique event is Simon Lavender, the number one UK content creator for board game videos on YouTube.

Simon has reviewed a staggering 2,300 board games and says the industry is worth £2bn in the UK with eight million people playing everyday.

“I started playing board games when I was very young and now have over 800 of them at home,” he said.

“They are a great way to connect with other people. Some of my favourites include one called Hey That’s My Fish and another called, Noch Mal.

“We will have hundreds of games at the convention and people can bring their own too. We have people coming from all over the country. I hope to hold another convention next year at either Reading Hilton or the University over multiple days.”

The Reading board game convention takes place on Saturday, October 21, between 11am-10pm at St.Catherine’s of Siena, Wittenham Ave, Tilehurst. Free parking – reserved parking for the first 20 drivers who get tickets.

There will be an on-site café, hot pies, pasties, pancakes and drinks. There is also a play area for children and it is wheelchair accessible.
