A SHOPPING mall in Reading has made a big splash with its recent installation aimed at promoting recycling and sustainable living.
Broad Street Mall was recently home to Bluey the Whale, a large installation made of recycled materials, to celebrate Great Big Green Week.
The whale installation housed a recycling point where customers could deposit plastic bottles, 488 of which were collected during the installation’s month-long stay.
The centre also ran a competition on their social media, inviting members of the public to guess how many bottles had been used to make the whale installation.
Steven Connolly, Centre Manager at Broad Street Mall says ‘We are so happy to share that our wonderful whale collected almost 500 bottles.
“This is a great achievement that demonstrates how amazing our community is at coming together to support important issues that affect us all.
“We are always looking at ways we can better tackle climate change here at Broad Street Mall and hope to continue encouraging our visitors to think about the importance of recycling and helping the planet, now and in the future.”
