Reading FC Women head into the final chapter of the season on Sunday at Blackburn Rovers in their fight for survival in the Women’s Championship.

The Royals are living dangerously close to the drop zone heading into their final three matches of the season.

They are just one place and two points above Lewes, who have just two games left to play.

Therefore, Reading’s destiny is still in their own hands with an away trip to Blackburn being followed by a home match against ninth placed Durham before they travel to bottom of the table Watford on the final day.

Since earning an impressive away win against promotion chasing Charlton, Liam Gilbert’s side have been on a dreadful run of form which has seen them dragged back into the relegation mix.

The Royals have lost four games on the bounce and have conceded 18 goals in four matches.

Their last outing was against Sunday’s opponents who they hosted prior to the latest international break.

After going a goal up through Keira Flanney, the Royals collapsed to a disappointing home loss as Blackburn fired two goals to take the lead before the break and then added two more in the second-half to seal the points with a 4-1 success.

Rovers currently sit comfortably in midtable on 29 points from 19 games in seventh position with three games left to complete their campaign.
