Birmingham City manager Chris Davies believes his side were denied a clear decision by the match officials during their opening day draw with Reading FC.
The Royals put on a valiant performance and led for much of the game due to Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan’s opener just before half-time.
However, with a few minutes to go the hosts were awarded a generous penalty for a handball offence from Lewis Wing. The penalty was converted by Alfie May as the points were shared.
Despite that, the Blues manager believes his side were denied a clear decision and also was not impressed with the referees’ inaction on time wasting.
He said: “I haven’t spoken to the match officials and I haven’t watched it back. It’s a back pass, there’s no doubt about it.
“It was a little bit frustrating today, A lot of the directives about delaying the game and time wasting. It’s fine in principle but it has to be enforced.
“It’s going to be important for us because teams will want to slow things down and take their time with injuries and cramps.
“We need officials to be firm on that because it will be important for us to keep the speed and the rhythm high because that’s what we want, but with that one it was a back pass and I’m not sure why it wasn’t given.”
