Birmingham City have confirmed that their star striker will be out of action with injury as they prepare to face Reading FC on Saturday.
The Royals will host the league leaders at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off), but will be without their top scorer Jay Stansfield.
Birmingham released a statement on Stansfield’s injury after he was stretchered off in their EFL Trophy win against Bradford City.
The statement says: “Stansfield was taken to a local hospital where scans have since revealed no indication of bone or ligament damage to the affected area.
The 22-year-old will continue to be assessed by the club’s medical staff in the coming days.”
Stansfield has netted 16 League One goals in 23 games since making a big money move from Premier League Fulham for around £15million plus add ons.
Reading picked up a point when they met Birmingham City on the opening day of the campaign at St Andrews.
The Royas put in an impressive display which saw them go ahead through Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan before the Blues were awarded a controversial penalty late on which was converted by Alfie May.
Birmingham sit top of the table with a six point lead over closest challengers Wycombe Wanderers and with two games in hand.
Meanwhile, Reading are in 9th spot on 49 points from 31 games, just four points off a play-off place.
