BINFIELD provided a cup upset in the FA Cup second qualifying round with a stunning victory over Tonbridge Angels.

Binfield, who play at step four in the Isthmian South Central, went in as underdogs up against Tonbridge who compete in the National League South.

However, it was the Moles who showed their worth as they earned another incredible cup victory.

Binfield are no strangers to remarkable cup runs having made it all the way to Wembley in the FA Vase in 2021.

Despite two goals from Liam Ferdinand, they were edged out 3-2 in a thrilling final.

Having stormed through in the FA Trophy qualifying round with a 4-0 win over Marlow FC, Binfield continued their cup form against Tonbridge.

After a goalless first-half, Binfield came out with all guns blazing in the second-half to blow their opponents off the park.

Captain Sean Moore provided the first goal of the tie in the 58th minute and their lead was doubled in the 72nd minute by Johnny Efedje.

Lewis Pegg put the game beyond Tonbridge when he scored Binfield’s third with just 10 minutes to go and Brad Pagliaroli’s put the icing on the cake to cap a memorable afternoon for the Moles.

Binfield co-manager Carl Withers said: “Incredibly proud of this group who fully deserved their win but a huge shout out to all the fans who came out in their numbers and played their part in our victory.”

Former Binfield manager and current first-team coach Roger Herridge added: “Has to be the clubs best ever results, loved every minute in the dugout. Carl Withers and Jamie McClurg and this squad doing special things.”

Binfield are back in league action on Tuesday away at Thatcham Town before their FA Trophy second qualifying round match away at Thame United.

The Moles have made a strong start to their league campaign and are currently in second position with three wins and one draw from their opening four matches.

Binfield: Grace, Hobbs, George, Giamattei, Gavin, Pegg, Morgan, Tack, Moore, Holland, Efedje

Subs: Curtis, Harry, Gater, Beauchamp, Pagliaroli, Rohart-Brown

Goals: Moore 58’, Efedje 72’, Pegg 80’, Pagliaroli 90’
