Binfield FC captain Sean Moore ensured the Moles grabbed a last-gasp point in their match against Ashford.

The Moles were back from the victory in Guernsey, having achieved a 3-1 away win.

Before kick-off, the referee blew the whistle for a minute’s silence and, again applause, to mark the passing of Christian Rowe.

From the start Binfield entered Ashford’s half but soon lost the ball to the visitors who took it into the Binfield area from a free kick.

Ethan Hellyer worked his way into the area but there was a double block by the Binfield defenders. He tried again with a cross into the middle but the ball deflected for a corner kick. Then an attempt to score missed as an Ashford forward struck the ball back over his head.

A few minutes later, Blackwood took a long shot but the ball flew high over the bar.

Grace then made another save when Ashford broke out of defence and was forced to rollover on the turf to retain the ball.

Moles took a free kick and then gave one away which gave Ashford a chance. This was taken by Dan Brown in the 16th minute when he directed a low grubber towards the target and it eluded Grace to put the visitors in the lead.

After the restart, Ashford continued to work into the Moles’ area but the incoming cross was headed out and Ashford plugged away again, bringing out a great save from Chris Grace.

A bad foul brought a yellow card to Ashford and Liam Gavin managed to hoof the ball over the top from close range. A free kick by Binfield also sailed over the top of the crossbar. Moore, Gavin and Legg all respectively pushed for an equaliser by half time but nothing materialised.

After the restart for the second-half, Binfield and McClurg took a free kick for a blatant foul and the Moles worked to create a positive attack, missing their chance after a good run upfield.

A free kick went Ashford’s way. In the 56th minute, a very clumsy foul by James McClurg sent him to the changing rooms via a red card.

Moles took off Chamberlain and Kian Duncan went on in his place. Ashford pressed on with a free kick and Binfield cleared the ensuing corner kick.

Binfield substitute Bunting replaced Montague as the 10 men tried to increase the pace coming close when the front runner was deemed offside.

90 minutes had passed, but Binfield managed to salvage a point when captain Moore popped up with avital equaliser to level the game late into stoppage time.

Binfield: 1. Grace, (GK). 2. Tack. 3. Legg. 4. Chamberlain. 5. Gavin, 6. Veal. 7. Harris. 8. McClurg. 9. Moore. (C). 10. Montague. 11. George. Substitutes: 12. Howell. 14. Duncan. 15. Bunting. 16. Thomson-Wheeler. 17. Webb.
