TO COMPLETE their 40th birthday celebrations Radstock Primary School will enjoy a visit from a human circus.

The school first opened its doors to 87 pupils in September 1983, with Bob Morgan its headteacher until 2000, followed by Drusilla Derrick until 2016, and then by current headteacher Lou Slocombe in 2017.

Fortieth birthday events, including a recent dance showcase, have been arranged by the school’s PTA, Friends of Radstock.

The group, led by parent Heather Neale, has organised 50 fundraising events in the past year, with Happy’s Circus their latest.

Headteacher Lou Slocombe said: “Friends of Radstock are an excellent support to us as a school.

“Not only do they raise money that helps buy essential items, such as phonics books and iPads, but they also organise great events, like Happy’s Circus, for our families to enjoy. “

Set in a traditional big top, each show is hosted by the ring mistress and clown, and features acrobats, aerialists, speciality acts, magic and audience participation.

Stalls, games and food will be available in the school playground from 3.30pm, and the circus performance will begin at 5.30pm, ending at around 8pm.
