THE BERKSHIRE Healthcare NHS Trust has launched a new podcast aimed at neurodivergent people.

Neurotypes, the first podcast released by the trust, will explore the experiences of those with neurodivergence as well as examining issues such as diagnosis and medication.

It aims to provide support to those waiting for an assessment or living with a diagnosis and serve as a resource for their families and friends.

The first episode is already available, with neurodiversity advisor Tani Prindiville speaking to Clinical Director and Neurodiversity Lead Dr Mairi Evans about her experiences as an Autistic woman with ADHD.

They discussed Tani Prindiville’s diagnosis, experiences at school, and her current role within the Berkshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

The podcast is the result of efforts to diversify how the NHS provides care and support by empowering neurodivergent people and encourage people to be informed about conditions and diagnoses.

Clinical Director and Neurodiversity Lead Dr Mairi Evans said: “Both our staff and service users can be neurodivergent and neurodivergent people are more likely to be using our services compared to the general population.

“It’s vital that we engage in opportunities to recognise, understand, and celebrate the strengths of neurodiversity as well as understanding some of the challenges neurodivergent people might experience.

“The Neurotypes podcast does just that, and we’re very excited to be able to share this informative tool which can be used by everyone in the communities in which we serve.”

The first episode of Neurotypes is available to listen to on Spotify and via: neurotypes.podbean.com/
