Local badminton players played hard and fair to fight for the title in the Acubed IT Rangers Sports autumn tournament.

In its eighth successful year, shuttlers were given plenty of play with some excellent games on display at Loddon Valley.

The tournament attracted plenty of passionate badminton players from the area with 40 teams participating to try and be crowned as champions, while many members of the public turned out to spectate.

The group matches were followed by three knockout rounds in best of three matches from the quarter finals onwards.

The teams were divided in eight groups of five teams each and the top teams were to qualify for the knockout rounds for two separate trophies, the Champions Cup and the Rangers Cup,

Arguably the tow most consistent teams made it to the finals, Yogesh Narayanaswamy and Shailesh Kumar Pandey faced Raja Imran and Raja Adil.

It a tightly contested final, Yogesh/Shailesh took an early lead in the first set but Imran and Adil filled the deficit before the magical 21st point.

The second set was equally interesting with some critical rallies ending on unforced errors on both sides.

Imran and Adil held their ground to emerge as winners with a 21-12, 21-14 victory to give them top place on the podium.

The Rangers Cup final was contested between Eshan Ul-Haq and Nesar Ali versus Vishvesh Shende and Siddarth Gang.

The first set was balanced and proved to be closer than initially anticipated.

Vishvesh and Sid looked sharped and bursting with energy, giving little reason for the opposite pair to relax.

However, the power and experience of Eshan/Nesar was enough to give them a formidable lead in the first game which ended 21-11.

Vishvesh and Sid came back stronger with some serious power in the second set, but in the end it was Eshan/Nesar who took the glory with a 2-0 victory.
