THE first artists set to perform at Are You Listening? festival in Reading have been confirmed.
The annual event takes across multiple venues in Reading raises money for local learning disability charity, Reading Mencap. It’s the charity’s largest fundraiser of the year.
Leading this year’s announcement is indie-pop wonderkid, Alfie Templeman who has captured the attention of establishments such BBC Radio One and NME.
Other acts confirmed include; punk grime two-piece Bob Vylan, Du Blonde and Kathryn Joseph, winner of Scottish Album of the Year for her debut release.
This year the festival is ready to welcome back fan-favourite venue, Saint Laurence Church, which has hosted some of the best performances from previous headliners.
Also announced to be performing is unique pop duo Jockstrap, Dutch band Pip Blom and Lauran Hibbard who has been compared to contemporary artists such as Courtney Barnett and Phoebe Bridges.
Representing the local scene are As Loud As A Mouse, folk singer-songwriter Darcey Hope, experimental power-pop solo artist Jack Goldstein, Mirror Pictures, DJ duo Twin Sun and the new electro-pop project Dakorra from Kate Herridge of Ocean Ruins.
Completing the list of announced acts so far is indie-pop-rock band Second Thoughts, ĠENN, Rhymestar, Wesley Gonzalez, Youth Sector, Anorak Patch and Leeds-based electro-punk artis Straight Girl.
The festival is set to take place across Reading on Saturday, May 7, and tier one tickets are on sale
Adult tickets are priced at £25 plus a booking fee and teen tickets £15 plus a booking fee.
