THE company behind a new mural in Reading town centre wants to add advertising to the artwork.
Last month, the image of Heather Small was painted onto the Friar Street offices of Haslams to mark the start of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, which runs from St James’ Church in The Forbury to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
The M People singer walked part of the route for a BBC Two programme about modern-day pilgrimages.
Global Street Art is seeking permission from Reading Borough Council to add the Estrella Galicia lager branding underneath the Las-Estrellas Del-Camino lettering and a QR code to the bottom right of the wall.
The art is part of a global project driven by Estrella Galicia and the Galicia regional government.
The application can be viewed by logging on to Reading Borough Council’s planning website and searching for 230815.
