John Madejski Academy in Reading has announced a milestone in its development, as the school prepares to adopt a new name: Hartland High School, effective from September 2025.
The change follows a community consultation, during which staff, parents, carers, governors and local residents were invited to share their views and vote on the future identity of the school. The overwhelming response reflects a shared desire to mark a new era which the school says is one defined by ambition, unity, and opportunity.
The school also says that the renaming to Hartland High School represents more than a change in signage, it is a significant and symbolic step in the school’s ongoing improvement journey.
“We are thrilled to unveil Hartland High School as the future name of our school,” said Mr Jonathan Heap, Headteacher, and Mr Dean Ackland, Head of School.
“This new name captures our collective aspiration to deliver a truly exceptional educational experience — one that celebrates progress, inclusivity, and community spirit.”
Planning for the transition is already underway, with school leaders committed to ensuring a smooth and well-communicated process.
