ORGANISERS of ReadiPop have announced that ReadiPop will be back for a special event in lieu of the usual three-day festival this year.
ReadiPop announced in November last year that the festival would be taking a fallow year in 2025, explaining that they have struggled with rising costs which affect much of the live music and events industry.
However, amid high levels of support received by ReadiPop, a new one-day festival has been announced, set to take place in September– the ReadiPop Fiesta.
The event will see five stages of music spread across the University of Reading’s Whiteknights Campus over 14 hours.
It will feature a number of muscians, yet to be announced, as well as DJs, workshops, street food, Reading Indie market, and a miniature record fair.
Earlybird tickets are now set to go on sale at 10am on Monday, April 14, for those who have signed up.
Remaining earlybird tickets go on public sale from 10am on Tuesday, April 15.
The first lineup will be announced shortly after the early-bird tickets are sold out.
Readipop Festival founder Gavin Lombos said: “We’ve been looking forward to announcing this for a long time– we’re immensely proud of what Readipop Festival has become since it launched in 2016 and the large, diverse section of the local community that it has brought together annually since then.’
“However, the costs of building a festival site from scratch and running a three-day event has increased hugely in the last few years and seriously threatened our ability to continue Readipop Festival.
“By hosting our Readipop Fiesta event on one day this September at Reading University Students Union, we can continue to bring a strong line-up of musical talent to Reading whilst showcasing great local performers and giving attendees the chance to try different instruments, including classic drum machines and synthesisers, for themselves in our daytime workshops.”
He explained: “As a thank you to all our previous Readipop Festival attendees and supporters we have a limited number of earlybird tickets available before we announce the first line-up.
“We are very excited to announce who we have playing the event and will be doing this once the earlybird tickets are sold out.”
