An upcoming bar and entertainment venue in Reading has applied to stay open well into the the early hours of the morning.

Boom Battle Bars are known to host a range of fun activities including axe throwing, along with serving drinks and street food to guests.

The company has 30 locations in the UK and one in Dubai, and has long had intentions to open in Reading.

Now, Boom Battle Bar is gearing up to take over the Revolution bar in Station Road which has been closed since January last year.

The company is seeking to take over the premises licence at the bar, allowing it to sell alcohol, host events and serve food and drinks past 11pm.

Revolution was previously open until midnight on most days of the week, 2.30am on Thursdays and 2.45am on Friday and Saturday nights.

It is understood it even had permission to stay open later, until 3.30am.

Boom Battle Bar has applied for permission to operate to the same hours in a licensing application to Reading Borough Council.

It has also applied to stay open later by two hours -until 5.30am- on the day of the American Football Super Bowl.

The 60th Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

A statutory consultation into the licensing application is currently live.

You can take part by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for responses is Tuesday, April 22.

Boom Battle Bar was previously due to occupy Unit L30 of The Oracle in 2021, but the acquisition of the unit fell through.

That unit has since been snapped up by the Cosy Club, which is due to open in May.
