Reading FC ended their away day misery with their first victory on the road this campaign.
Jayden Wareham got Reading off to a flying start, scoring with less than a minute gone before Michael Craig’s goal made it 2-0 before the break.
Exeter hit back quickly after the restart, but Reading held out to take the points.
The Royals boast strong home form, but had picked up just one point on their travels prior to tonight.
Having missed several weeks of action with injury, first choice goalkeeper Joel Pereira returned between the sticks.
Meanwhile, young striker Jayden Wareham started up top in place of Sam Smith.
The Royals made the perfect start when Wareham struck his first League One goal.
The lead was doubled in the 36th minute when midfielder Michael Craig, filling in at right-back, netted his first senior goal.
Having put on pressure in the early stages of the second-half, Exeter were rewarded when Ilmari Niskanen’s goal got them back into the contest.
Joel Pereira came to the rescue on a few occassions as Reading manage to weather the Exeter storm to claim their first away success of the season.
The result puts Reading just outside the play-off places in 7th on 19 points.
