Reading YMCA FC are on the lookout for a new first-team manager after previous boss Lee Kitching stepped down.

He joined YMCA as a first-team coach in June 2022 before he took up duties as manager at the start of last season.

His highlight as boss came in the 2022/23 campaign when he led his side to a 1-0 success in the BTC Senior Cup final against Yateley United at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Reading finished in sixth spot in the Thames Valley Premier League this season and missed out narrowly on another trip to the SCL in the BTC Senior Cup as they were defeated by eventual cup winners Burghfield in the semi-final.

Reading YMCA chairman Mark Lemm said: “Lee stopped into the manager’s role unexpectedly, it made sense as he already had a relationship with the players. The players really responded to his calming presence and tactical nous which resulted in a trophy in his first season.

“Lee has been a great ambassador for our club and represented our values on and off the pitch.

“We say goodbye with a lot of sadness but Lee can walk away knowing he has given the players and the club one of their greatest ever days in football.

“Lee is now taking time out of the game to watch and support his two sons on their football journey, everyone at Reading YMCA FC hopes to see him coaching or managing again the future. Thank you Lee.”
