Former Reading FC player Glen Little gave his take after reports have emerged that a North American investment group is in advanced negotiations to buy the club.

Little played more than 100 games for the Royals and helped them to win promotion to the Premier League during the historic ‘106’ campaign in 2005/06.

Speaking on BBC Radio Berkshire, Little said: “I saw Marc Bircham and had a chat with him at half-time.

“It’s not rumours although you do see the speculation but they do want to come in and buy the club.

“I said to him ‘don’t worry, I won’t say anything.’ He said ‘don’t worry about that, it’s no secret.’

“They do want to come in, but the training ground was a bit of a spanner in the works. But hopefully it falls through and they can get the training ground as well and we can get this takeover happening.

“He knows how much football means to people so you would hope that if he does come in that they have the best intentions and can sort it out off the pitch and then move forward on it.

“There has been some promise in the last few months. If we can get a takeover sorted, get good owners in and if they can make good signings and get behind the director of football and work together, then maybe next season we can turn this all around and look to push for promotion.”
