Reading’s independent street food and drinks arena, Blue Collar Corner, is set to be transformed into a hub for gift buying, sausage eating, seasonal music, hot booze and more.
On November 25 and 26, Blue Collar Christmas Market sees the popular town centre venue bring together many of its regular collaborators including Reading’s Indie Market, Reading Vintage Flea Market, Anonymous Coffee & Double Barrelled Brewery for a two-day event focussed on local crafts, produce and artists.
“Working together with other local independents has always been firmly at the heart of Blue Collar” explained Blue Collar’s Glen Dinning
“We couldn’t think of a better way to start the Christmas season than with a big Christmas Market, showcasing many of the friends we collaborate with”.
Sonning Flowers, who provided Blue Collar Corner with its distinctive floral look, have added Christmas decorations to the venue. They will also sell their DIY wreath making kits, and tickets to their wreath making workshops on November 26.
Reading’s Indie Market has been taking place on bi-monthly Sundays at Blue Collar Corner for more than a year, and the Christmas Market will see them bringing their highest numbers of stall holders to date.
They will be selling a variety of seasonal crafts and unique handmade gifts, alongside locally produced sweet treats.
Reading Vintage Flea Market will also have stalls across the weekend, offering vintage fashion, furniture, décor and homeware.
Anonymous Coffee is now available at Blue Collar Corner every Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 4pm.
The hot drinks menu will be extended to include festive options, including gingerbread lattes and popular warm booze such as mulled wine and mulled cider.
Local brewers Double Barrelled will also be revealing an exclusive first pour at Blue Collar Corner especially for the event, a hazy pale ale called “Diamonds In The Water”.
Alongside Blue Collar Corner’s usual four rotating street food kitchens, the Christmas Market will include extra food stalls outside the venue, adding more festive menu options than ever.
These will include the popular Heavenly Sausage with their gourmet hot dogs and Sole Luna’s fresh wood fired pizza, both of which are always a big hit at Blue Collar’s events in Forbury Gardens and Broad Street.
Yuletide music will also play a part at Blue Collar Christmas Market, including a live performance from local community centre The Hub’s vocal group, The Hubphonics, and a special DJ set of “Festive Favourites & Christmas Curveballs” from local musician Damien A. Passmore.
