READING FC manager Ruben Selles has said that the ‘door is open’ for transfer target Theo Walcott.

Walcott had been training with the club at Bearwood after departing Southampton in the summer and the Royals are keen on signing the former England international.

“Theo a couple of weeks ago asked if he could come here to train,” said Selles.

“He’s in a period of his life where he needs to decide the next step.

“Because of the relationship we had at Southampton he came here to train.

“If he wants to play football, we will be here for him.”

Despite holding interest in Walcott, the new Royals boss admitted that there is no agreement in place yet.

He continued: “If he decides to continue in the game and thinks we are a good option for him then he is more than welcome.

“If not, I will support him in whatever he does. He’s a great player and a great person. If he wants to play football, the door is open for him.
