READING FC extended their winless run away from home, losing 2-1 to play-off-chasing Coventry City.
The home side made the stronger start, going in front through Matty Godden who volleyed home after a series of blocked shots.
The Royals restored parity momentarily through Lucas Joao in the 51st minute, but went behind again three minutes later courtesy of a Gustavo Hamer goal.
Joe Lumley 6: Kept busy and made decent stops to deny Gyokeres and Hamer. Almost cost his side a goal late on with a loose pass. Could not have done anything with the goals.
Andy Yiadom 5: Was tormented by Gyokeres when he pulled out wide, particularly in the first half. Wasn’t afforded the licence to get forward.
Tom Holmes 4: Picked up an early yellow after getting beaten for pace by Gyokeres down Reading’s right in the first half. Run ragged all afternoon.
Naby Sarr 5: Marginally better than his centre-back partner, but still not by any means assured. Never got to grips with the home side’s front line.
Nesta Guinness-Walker 5: Gave the ball away with loose passes and got beaten in behind on a number of occasions. The more positive of the two wing-backs.
Femi Azeez 5: Looked uncertain in possession and was anonymous for long periods. Got a couple of strikes away from range in the second half.
Jeff Hendrick 5: Made little impression on the game. At the heart of a midfield which was massively overrun. Took a nasty-looking knock in the build-up to Joao’s goal.
Cesare Casadei 5: Not his best showing. Was bullied off the ball too many times and wasn’t able to showcase his ability on the ball.
Mamadi Camara 4: Struggled to make things happen and with the intensity of the game. Was replaced by Fornah at half time.
Lucas Joao 6: Took his goal brilliantly. Spent large portions of the game in his own half looking for the ball however, and
Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan 5: Worked hard, but was working off scraps all afternoon. Replaced by McIntyre just past the hour mark.
Substitutes:
Tyrese Fornah 5: Wasn’t able to add the robustness in the midfield Hunt would have wanted.
Tom McIntyre 5: Deployed in midfield. Broke up the play well at times, but couldn’t ultimately affect the game.
Shane Long: N/A
