A CHERRY PICKER is the reason for a road closure planned for east Reading later this month.

Reading Borough Council has granted permission for the vehicle to be installed on Watlington Street on Wednesday, November 9.

The works, scheduled from 9.30am to 3.30pm, will allow a building survey to take place.

To allow the team to carry out the works safely, the council is introducing a no right turn from Queens Road to Watlington Street.

Additionally, Kennet Street will be shut at its junction with Watlington Street and Kings Road.

A signed diversion route will be in place while the cherry picker is in situ.
