Zen Internet, the only Which? Recommended Provider for Broadband 2023, has launched a “Switch for Good” scheme, offering donations to UK charities for every customer that joins Zen using that charity’s referral code.
Once a charity is signed up to the Zen scheme, they can provide a referral code for consumers who are looking to take their residential broadband with Zen. For each successful new customer that signs up via the charity’s referral link, the charity will receive £75 in cash as a donation from Zen, while the new customer will also be rewarded with a £25 eGift voucher.
There is no limit to the number of registered charities that can sign up to the scheme, or customers who can join Zen via a charity referral. Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Lancashire was the first charity to sign up, also Zen’s current charity of the year. Local charities to Zen’s Headquarters, Springhill Hospice and Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Circle have also already joined the scheme. Interested charities must register their interest by the end of August.
The incentive seeks to offer more value for customers at a time where many are looking to save on their household bills, as well as a chance for them to drive extra revenue to a charity they support.
Zen also offers residential customers a contract price promise, a commitment to not raise prices mid-contract, at a time where many consumers are facing mid contract price increases of 14% or more.
Richard Tang, CEO of Zen Internet, said: “Zen has always been a business that wants to do the right thing, with a people first mindset. We are an ethically driven organisation that seeks to balance our focus on people with profit and that is how this initiative came to be – why put money in major corporates with advertising spend, when it can be used to donate to community charities? With charity pockets squeezed even further during the cost-of-living crisis, this Switch for Good campaign aims to consider those that most need support while also spreading awareness of Zen.”
As part of its B Corp certification Zen is legally required to consider the impact of its decisions on workers, customers, suppliers, community and the environment. Last year, the Carbon Neutral and B Corp certified provider also had its commitments to align to Net Zero approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Business Ambition for 1.5oC campaign.
