YOUNG actors are invited to audition for roles in a musical coming to Reading next February.
RARE Productions Youth Theatre is organising the new production of the Queen musical We Will Rock You, and is looking for actors aged from eight to 18.
The show is set 300 years in the future, and planet earth is now planet mall, controlled by the Globalsoft Corporation. It has banned all non-computer-generated music after its ruler, Killer Queen, heard that a Dreamer will emerge with long-hidden instruments to free the people.
When Galileo starts dreaming of lyrics, he is heralded as one to break free … but can they find rock’s holy grail: Brian May’s guitar?
There are auditions for the roles on Monday, October 30, and Saturday, November 4.
The first is at The Hexagon. Children eight to 12 can audition between 5pm and 6.30pm, while teenagers can try out between 6.30pm and 8pm.
The second audition is at King’s Academy Prsopect in Cockney Hill, Tilehurst. Eight to 12-year-olds can audition from 2pm-3pm, and 13- to 18-year-olds can try out between 3pm and 4pm.
No advance booking is necessary, but successful applicants will pay a show fee.
The show will be performed at The Hexagon from February 8-10 next year.
