AN ANNUAL celebration of home-grown writing talent is once again returning to the town’s oldest producing theatre.
Progress Theatre is getting its new season underway in earnest with the 18th instalment of WriteFest, which showcases short plays by local writers.
This year the event will welcome seven new productions, including Pat Smythe’s Two Women Failing the Bechdel Test, Owen Goode’s Boundary Conditions, and A Miracle by Rob Taylor.
They’ll be joined by Do They Know It’s Christmas, by Clare Reed; Just A Number, by Melanie Roan; and Ham P.O.D!, by Adam Wells.
This season at the theatre will also see productions of Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, in late November, followed by Screwed: A Midlife Christmas Crisis.
Progress Theatre is the oldest producing theatre in Reading and celebrates its 75th anniversary next year.
