WOKINGHAM Borough Council will soon be starting work on a new walking and cycling route from Woodley town centre to Palmer Park, in Reading.
Construction will take place in phases and is expected to take much of the year, with Woodlands Avenue sections due for completion in the summer.
Further works on Church Road, Palmerstone Road and Culver Lane are set to begin this summer and finish in the winter, but the council is yet to confirm detailed timeframes.
The council says the work will require road closures with diversions, and that their partners, VolkerHighways, will try to work quickly but may be delayed by factors like the weather.
Part of the council’s plan to improve walking and cycling links, the project is being funded by the Government via Active Travel England.
Works are set to begin on Monday, January 26.
