A NEW tech store is to open in Reading town centre.

Last week, builders were seen working on the shop between Waterstones and Fone Shop on Broad Street.

Last July, developer Jalinder Ahuja won permission to make changes to the shopfront. Materials were approved by the council’s planning department in November.

A sign inside the unit suggests the shop will be called ‘Smart Tech’ which sells phones, vapes, other devices and cookware, which could be seen inside the unit as well.

Approved changes to the frontage include providing a new door to provide access to the first and second floors of the building.

The shop was previously used by mobile phone firm EE store, but it has since moved to 114-115 Broad Street, near the entrance to The Oracle.
