Jack Marriott was the hero at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, firing a superb hat-trick to seal a dramatic 3–2 win for Reading.
Marriott struck early on 8 minutes and doubled the lead just before half-time, putting the Royals in control and then doubled the lead with another expertly taken finish.
Wycombe responded after the break, with goals from Dan Casey (51’) and Anders Hagelskjaer (72’) to level the contest in an impressive fight back which had them deservedly level.
But just two minutes later, Marriott completed his treble with a composed finish to restore Reading’s lead, and ultimately secure all three points.
A clinical display from Marriott proved the difference in an entertaining League One encounter as the 31-year-old forward took his league tally to 15 goals for the campaign.
The result moves Reading up to 7th in the table prior to the 3pm kick-offs across the division.
