A NEW Headteacher has been appointed at a Winnersh primary school, it has announced.

Heidi Ray is set to take over as Head of Wheatfield Primary School this month.

Wheatfield, which is part of the GLF Schools multi academy trust, was judged Good by Ofsted in its most recent inspection, with strong praise for its inclusive ethos and dedicated staff team.

Wheatfield is a vibrant and nurturing primary school at the heart of its community, where high aspirations and a love of learning go hand in hand.

Mrs. Ray brings a wealth of leadership experience, joining from Battle Primary Academy in Reading, where she served as Vice Principal.

Under her leadership, the school was awarded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in November 2024.

Mrs. Ray is widely experienced in raising standards across the curriculum, supporting staff development, and building positive relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school community.

She is an advocate for therapeutic approaches to behaviour and creating nurturing, inclusive environments aimed to help children flourish.

The school says Mrs. Ray’s appointment marks an ‘exciting new chapter’ for Wheatfield, reflecting its continued focus on excellence and pupil wellbeing.

Headteacher Heidi Ray said: “I am incredibly excited to join the Wheatfield community. It’s clear that the school is a special place, with a strong team and a genuine commitment to children’s development and wellbeing.

“I look forward to getting to know our pupils and families, and working together to ensure every child receives the best possible education.”

James Nicholson, Interim CEO of GLF Schools, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Heidi to Wheatfield and to the GLF family.

“Her values-led leadership, strong track record, and commitment to the very best outcomes for every child make her a perfect fit for the school.

“We’re excited to see Wheatfield continue to thrive under her guidance.”
