A WEST Reading butchers has applied to Reading Borough Council for permission to sell alcohol.
The Rio Grande Meat Market on Oxford Road specialises in Brazilian and Portuguese meats.
It opens from 9am to 8pm, apart from Sundays when it closes at 4pm.
Under the application, it wants to be able to sell alcohol between 9am and 8pm daily.
Shop owner Amanda Menuzzo said: “We are a Brazilian meat market and a shop as well, we want to sell Brazilian and Portuguese beer, along with some traditional beers.”
Brands that could be stocked would include imports such as Super Bock, and Sagres.
The store was previously occupied by the Covered Pearls dress shop and by the Oxford Road Pharmacy itself for a time, until it moved into the larger premises.
The application for licensing consent has been submitted to Reading Borough Council.
