Reading FC manager Ruben Selles expressed his pride as he reflected on what has been a season full of mixed emotions at the club.
The Royals ended their League One campaign on a high with a 3-1 victory at home to Blackpool with goals from Sam Smith, Harvey Knibbs and Femi Azeez.
“I’m very proud of how we’ve worked through the season and the way we came back and got the points,” said Selles.
“I’m proud of the effort. We managed to come back from one nil down and score three goals. It was a difficult game for us, but I’m very proud.
“The key for us and the fans is that we want more and we will commit ourselves to try and come back to get more of that. It’s the perfect feeling to end the season and use these two months to be ready for next season.”
Selles also expanded on the connection between the players and the fans who were able to celebrate together after full-time.
He continued: “The feeling has been amazing for the last six months, we’ve been growing into that and connecting with the fans. At the end we have made something a little bit magic.
“I want to think we’ve created a good platform for the future success of the club and that we’ve built a good platform for the inter connection of the fanbase and for the next 100 years that the fans should be with the team in the stadium.
“It’s always important the way you finish with the performance. The victory gives us a flavour of what we want. It’s always good motivation to prepare for the next challenge.
“We had the same against Burton, that’s happened a few times in the season and I don’t like that. We ended to correct that and that’s one of our key points how to manage how to be more comfortable to not concede the early goal.
“We managed to come back and score the goal before half-time and be stronger.”
