Colette Dennis, Labour

It has been an enjoyable experience representing and taking issues and concerns forward on behalf of the constituents who voted for me in the 2022 Elections. Since I have been elected, we have gone through the ‘cost of living crisis’ and the Fuel Price increases. Norcot Ward works to support those in need has been a main concern.
To support a green environment, I petitioned the council to clean up regularly parts of the Dee Park Estate and other areas around Norcot. I participated in local litter picks helping to keep Norcot clean, I will continue to work with the Police and Reading council officers on issues of anti-social behaviour and drugs issues around the ward.
I have been and will continue to diligently support voluntary charities and organisations across the whole community, particularly focusing on reaching out to the elderly and vulnerable in our diverse communities.
I am passionate about our neighbourhood in Norcot; passionate about making a difference to the community we live in. Helping to fight inequalities across Housing, health and education whilst being an enabler to improve diversity, neurodiversity and social inclusion. I am looking forward to continuing to represent the people of Norcot.
Stephen Graham, Your Local Liberal Party

I am proud to be the Liberal Party candidate in Norcot Ward in Reading and would like to thank my neighbours for supporting my nomination.
I have lived in Reading for almost 11 years and work in the town centre for a life science company and travel down the Oxford Road and across Reading daily by public transport.
Our town faces issues ranging from unsightly fly tipping and potholes to the excess development of flats and late annual financial accounts.
My wish is to make a difference in our town and community by highlighting these issues and supporting sustainable solutions to improve life for all.

Suzanne Rowe, Conservative
Richard Walkem, Green

Richard Walkem has lived in Reading for over 11 years. Richard works as a teacher and treasurer for a local church. When not working, Richard enjoys exploring the words and parks with his children.
Green councillors and candidates are working for a fairer, greener, more affordable town.
Greens did so well at the council elections last year that we overtook the Conservatives becoming the second largest party on Reading’s Labour-run council (32 Labour councillors, 7 Green, 6 Conservative and 3 Lib Dem). Labour have a very large majority of councillors but it is very close between Greens and Conservatives for second place.
Vote Green at the council elections on Thursday 4 May for hard work year-round but also to keep the Green Party ahead of the Conservatives as the main opposition party on Reading Council.
Get involved with the campaign. We will only win with your help.
Christopher Ward, Lib Dem

Chris Ward is a campaigner who lives in Reading and works across the Thames Valley. He is passionate about increasing participation in democracy and local government. If elected in Norcot, his priorities will be to tackle Reading’s traffic and air pollution issues, and to ensure that Reading’s council services remain resilient into the future.
Chris opposes NatWest’s proposed closure of their branch in Tilehurst, and is supporting the Liberal Democrats’ petition to keep banking services in the west of Reading – you can sign it here.
In Chris’ own words:
I moved to Reading having studied History at the University of Gloucester; in my spare time, I’m a big fan of county cricket and decent cider. You may see me out for a run by the river, too.
Running is a great way to explore a new town. I have been blown away by the sense of community here, particularly in the centre of town. We have a strong community which deserves strong local champions, which is why I’m standing for the Council.
Any member of any party will tell you they stand for motherhood and apple pie, but for Lib Dems, access and participation in local decision-making really matters.
So, it matters that the Conservatives here are never seen outside election time. It matters that they don’t stand up for our communities. It matters that they are an invisible opposition to the current administration in Reading, and that nationally they’re pulling up the drawbridge for refugees while letting companies like Thames Water rake in massive profits for spewing sewage into our rivers. And it matters that Labour has run the council for my whole lifetime (apart from in 2010), yet it was the last major council to settle historical equal pay claims for women – at a cost of £12m of our money. It matters that they’ve wasted another million because of incompetence over their accounts. It matters that they’ve let our roads and air quality get so bad in Reading.
We demand a fair deal for Norcot ward. If I’m elected, I will embody the Lib Dem tradition of working hard all year round, not just at election time. I will keep residents informed, and be their voice on the council.
