The candidates
Jonathan Barker, Lib Dem

Jonathan Barker is a retired manager in the telecoms industry and active member of the community in Kentwood, as well as being a Public Governor of the Royal Berkshire Hospital. He is a long-standing believer in, and defender of, our NHS; his priorities for Kentwood are a fair deal for its residents and services, affordable housing in the places it’s most needed, and no development on its green spaces and woodlands.
Jonathan opposes NatWest’s proposed closure of their branch in Tilehurst, and is supporting the Liberal Democrats’ petition to keep banking services in the west of Reading.
Caroline Hearst, Green

Caroline Hearst has lived in Reading for 12 years. She works for AutAngel – an autistic run community interest company supporting autistic adults. When not working, she enjoys gardening.
Green councillors and candidates are working for a fairer, greener, more affordable town.
Greens did so well at the council elections last year that we overtook the Conservatives becoming the second largest party on Reading’s Labour-run council (32 Labour councillors, 7 Green, 6 Conservative and 3 Lib Dem). Labour have a very large majority of councillors but it is very close between Greens and Conservatives for second place.
Vote Green at the council elections on Thursday 4 May for hard work year-round but also to keep the Green Party ahead of the Conservatives as the main opposition party on Reading Council.

Mamuna Naz, Labour

My name is Mamuna Naz. I moved to Reading in 2012 and have since been an active member of the Labour Party in Reading West.
I have been a supporter of the Safer Neighbourhood Forum and I have served as a volunteer translator to the South Asian community.
I am passionate about serving the community and I work closely with Glenn Dennis and Mark Keeping, Labour’s councillors in Kentwood Ward.
My priority is to consult with the local community on the issues Kentwood Ward residents care about through regular door-knocking and newsletters.
Raj Singh, Conservative
