EarleyBus provides and operates transport facilities as a social service of the town of Earley and surrounding area for the purpose of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants, particularly those in need including young persons, disabled persons and the elderly. We are looking for a volunteer for one or two hours a week to assist with taking bookings over the phone, or by email, from organisations wishing to hire the minibus for group outings. Computer skills and attention to detail required in the small shared office in the community centre.

Girlguiding Spencers Wood and Guilguiding Shinfield are looking for volunteers to help organise weekly unit meetings during term time at Spencers Wood Village Hall and St Mary’s Church Hall respectively. Opportunities for adults to volunteer across all age groups including:- Rainbows (4-7 yrs) , Brownies (7-10 yrs), Guides 10-14 yrs), Rangers (14 – 18 yrs) Become an inspiring role model for our members – and help empower girls to be their best. Our weekly unit meetings are at the heart of Girlguiding. When you volunteer at them, you’ll have fun, get messy, meet new people and run activities that help our young members discover their potential. What’s involved:- Attending weekly unit meetings one evening per week (ideally) during term time, helping to plan and deliver activities that are based on the Girlguiding program, communicating with parents, carers and other Girlguiding volunteers and completing safeguarding and other training. We usually meet on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday nights and we’re flexible enough so that volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle, so you do not need to be available to attend every week.

The Wokingham Transport Scheme needs you! All you need is your own car – there is no cost to you as we reimburse all your expenses. We are looking for drivers who can provide transport for older people to attend vital medical appointments such hospitals, local doctors, dentists, opticians, physiotherapists. drivers who can help with one off social trips (such as shopping and visiting friends/family in hospital/care homes etc.) and more regular social trips (such as to a lunch club or activity which may involve dropping them of and picking them up later rather than waiting with them) Time commitment can be very flexible. If you live in Wokingham, Finchampstead, Crowthorne, Winnersh or Barkham and you would like to help, please get in touch! You must have a full driving licence and own car. No specialist car insurance is needed. Unfortunately, we cannot take on any new volunteers aged under 21 or over 80 due to insurances purposes. The vast majority of our drives are weekdays and daytimes, so your availability would need to align with this. Volunteers would need to be available for a minimum of six months.

If you are interested in any of these roles or volunteering in Wokingham Borough in general, please take a look at our website www.volunteerwokinghamborough.org.uk or email volunteer@wok-vol.org.uk or call 0118 977 0749.
