Refugee Support Group’s mission is to improve the lives of Refugees and people seeking asylum, providing support, advice, promotion, awareness and facilitating integration for the local community.
They are seeking a compassionate and dedicated volunteer to assist with their weekly Friday Drop-in Sessions between 2pm to 4pm. These sessions are primarily aimed at supporting their Ukrainian clients, although they are open to all refugees and asylum seekers in need.
Volunteers who can speak Ukrainian are particularly desirable, the ability to directly communicate with the clients and translate would greatly benefit everyone involved as the support groups would be able to help more effectively.
Enrych Berkshire is an organisation that provides people with disabilities extra support to help them to enjoy hobbies, interests and activities of their choosing.
They are currently seeking a female volunteer to help one of their female members that uses a wheelchair to go out and visit places. You could be the person that builds their confidence!
And of course there are many more volunteer opportunities with Enrych Berkshire that helps even more people one-on-one, ranging from just being a person to lend an ear or being a volunteer that assists with taking them to social events.
Re-engage is making life less lonely for thousands of older people every year. Loneliness can be cruel, and it affects millions of people over 75 who live in social isolation. Re-engage runs volunteer-led social activities to make them happier, help them trust others and counter loneliness.
Currently they are looking to recruit more Volunteer Drivers! You would need to be available around one Sunday a month to collect up to three people over 75 and transport them to a Host’s home for an afternoon tea party from 3pm, then return them to their homes at 5:30pm.
This is all based within the greater Reading area. Volunteers applying for this role must: have a UK Driving Licence, undertake an enhanced DBS check and complete a few online courses.
